As a parent, your biggest fear is your children getting hurt. Even if your child gets a little scrape, it hurts you significantly, let alone if they get hurt even worse!
This family went through their worst nightmare when they lost two brothers in the same horrifying accident…
Ashley Kauffman’s life revolved around her two sons; 13-year-old Kayden Compton and 10-year-old Braydon Kauffman. The young family had their fair share of trials and tribulations but always made sure to support one another.
Ashley had been diagnosed with cancer and had undergone chemotherapy and other treatment for her disease. Her young sons were by their mother’s side, helping her in every way they could.
Her beloved older son’s birthday was coming up and the little family was excited about the prospect of celebrating the big day.
Braydon was a fifth-grader at McGregor Elementary School, and his big brother Kayden, was an eighth-grader at STEAMM Academy in Canton, Ohio.
October 1, 2022, the two siblings left the house. Ashley had always been a protective parent and made sure that her kids were always safe. She would not even allow the boys to ride bikes which was something a lot of other children would usually do. But not her sons.
However, even with her protective parenting style, a tragedy occurred. At around 9:22 p.m., authorities were informed of an accident and immediately rushed to the location to provide rescue services.
Both siblings were in a Ford F-550, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over and eventually crashed into a tree. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they discovered that both brothers had died on the spot. The driver had survived and was moved to a hospital for treatment for various injuries they sustained.
When Ashley was notified of the accident that resulted in the death of both her sons, she was shocked and numb. She said in a Facebook post, “a part of me died that night.”
Families that lived near the crash site and heard it when it happened rushed to the car to see if they could help in any way. They saw the occupants of the vehicle were stuck under it and realized there wasn’t much they could do except wait for rescue services to arrive. A resident of the area recalled, “The first responders came with the jaws of life.”
The deaths of the two adorable young boys devastated everyone in the area. Lissa Morgan, who had been friends with the boys said, “I miss him a lot, and it’s like you never really know how much you miss them until they’re gone. It’s very hard for me.”
A relative of mom Ashley, Chris Kauffman-Gilger set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the mom who had to unexpectedly prepare for not one but two funerals at the same time. Chris wrote in the description, “These two boys loved life to the fullest, and they were the happiest, kindest, most caring, and loving kids you could ever meet.”
The GoFundMe fundraiser hoped to raise $17,000 but quickly surpassed the amount needed. People from all over the country felt for Ashley and wanted to help out in any way they could.
An investigation into the accident is currently underway. Ashley took to Facebook to reveal what she had learned from a witness; that the driver had been under the influence when driving. She wrote, “Thank you to the witness who felt enough pain & sorrow for my innocent babies, to tell the truth.”
Ashley is completely heartbroken from this loss, as a mother can be expected to be. She hopes to get justice for the untimely and unfair death of her beloved sons.
We extend our condolences to Ashley and the rest of the family and friends of these lovely young boys. Hopefully, justice will be serve
