Tom Selleck got his breakthrough after appearing in Magnum, P. I was Thomas Magnum and became one of the most loved actors in Hollywood.
In 1987, he got married to Jillie and they welcomed their daughter, Hannah Margaret Selleck a year later.
They wanted to give her the best life ever and this influenced their decision of moving to a 65-acre ranch in California. To spend more time with his family, Tom had to slow down with work.
He told People in 2012, “I quit Magnum to have a family. It took a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that.”
The family lived on a ranch and it didn’t tag long for Hannah to ride a horse her first time was at the age of 4.
“We both thought it was the best environment for [Hannah] to grow up,” Jillie said.
It turned out that she loves horseback riding and she went on to pursue a professional horseback riding career after graduating from college her parents were so supportive.
“My dad encouraged it a lot,” she said. “He liked the idea of developing the babies and developing young horses, so he was a big supporter of this idea.”
Many people thought she was going to pursue the same career path as her father, but she avoided Hollywood for reasons best known to her. Along the line, she modeled for brands, but that didn’t change her goals a bit.
“As a kid [my parents] tried to raise me as normally as possible given my dad’s line of work,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Those horses have been a great way for me to have my accomplishments outside of whatever my parents had done.”
