A mom-of-two ended her marriage of eighteen years with a broken heart, and two years later, she is living her best life as a single woman.

42-year-old Emma Sheppard from Blackpool, England, split from her longtime husband in 2020 and was highly aggrieved over her failed marriage.

According to Daily Mail, Emma tied the knot in 2000 at the age of 22. She was very much in love with her partner and thought her marriage would last forever.

“I’d married for life. It was him, the girls, and work. I felt I’d got it all sorted,” Sheppard told SWNS.

The mother-of-two said her marriage was not bad at first, and she had a good time with her former partner; however, a few years and two daughters later, their relationship started going downhill.

Finally, after many years of staying in a draining relationship, Emma and her husband decided to part ways and ended their marital relationship.

“My husband moved out in January 2021. When he left me, I remained shattered for many months, questioning my worth and feeling worthless all the time,” she said.

“But with time, I realized I wasn’t happy in my marriage, and what’s the point of staying in a relationship if it doesn’t make you happy,” she added.

“Before, I’d always just worked hard and cared for everyone else. But, one day after we separated, I realized it was my turn.”

Emma said that until 2021, she was so busy struggling and surviving that she didn’t focus on herself and looked miserable all the time. But a few months after her divorce, she decided to take control of her life.

“I looked old empty, and drained, but now I’m living my best life. I’m happy, and I look completely different.”

The UK native told SWNS that she didn’t focus on herself – her well-being, looks, and appearance while she was still married. But after her divorce was finalized, she decided to change.

“I had no confidence in myself and was so isolated. I was just existing, working to pay the bills and just getting through,” said Emma.

“Then one day I woke up and thought, ‘You come from a family of strong women, you are free, and you can make a difference in your life.’”

“I realized I can be so much more,” she continued. It was like a force from somebody watching over me.”

So, she started dressing up for herself and vowed to work on her physical fitness and mental health.

“I used to listen to Roar by Katy Perry; that song helped me a lot in transforming my life from being a loser to a hot-looking happy person,” she said.

“I started eating healthy and working out. I took an extra job in a cocktail bar and also went to the gym for weights and cardio, at least five days a week.”

Emma said that she improved her eating habits and started including healthy food items in her daily diet.

“I changed my eating habits, replacing egg and chips and bacon sandwiches with chicken pasta and homemade bolognaise. Everything about me is completely different now.”

“People say I look incredible compared to before, and I think it’s because I’m so happy inside,” she giggled.

“I’m so happy now that I’ve totally turned my life around. I glammed up and started going out again by setting up an account on Tinder,” she added.
