Hearing about someone’s death is never easy especially if it is someone who was an integral part of your childhood growing up. Nicholas Bradford will be missed by many people around the world.
Adam Rich was best known for his role as Nicholas Bradford in the hit television series Eight is Enough which ran from 1977 to 1981. He joined the show when he was 8 years old. According to family, the actor has passed away from undisclosed circumstances.
Rich was born on October 12, 1968. Before he landed his big role in Eight is Enough he’d only been in a few small projects which included appearing on one episode of The Six Million Dollar Man and in the TV movie The City.
After his appearance as Nicholas Bradford on Eight is Enough, he was regularly cast as a guest star on many television shows and theatrical gigs. He also received a recurring role on the television show Code Red. His last acting and television credits were on a 1993 episode of Baywatch and his last movie credit was in 2003, in Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.
Rich led a troubled life. When he was 14 years old, he tried smoking marijuana. He then dropped out of high school at the age of 17 years old. In 1991, he almost died of a valium overdose. In 2002, he was arrested on the charge of attempted burglary of a pharmacy. In 2002, he was arrested for DUI and during his lifetime had been admitted to rehab a number of times.
In 1991, Rich gave an eye-opening interview in the Orlando Sentinel, he said, “I don’t know why this happened, but I know I am sick. I have a disease. I am very remorseful, very embarrassed about this whole thing. [When] I was 15, I realized I had been working most of my life. I felt like I was almost ready to retire; I was so tired. I began hanging out with the wrong people. I guess it was rebellious, like, ‘Hey, I’m not cute little Nicholas.’”
His death is incredibly saddening for all of us.
It is such a shame to lose a beloved child star. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to Adam Rich and all his family and friends.
