In a joint Instagram post, Hough and Erbert appeared in an endearing picture, cuddling and embracing each other as they shared a kiss in front of their beautifully decorated Christmas tree. In their caption, the couple wished their fans a Merry Christmas and spoke about the importance of cherishing loved ones.
The duo’s holiday picture comes after Hough was seen keeping vigil over his wife at her hospital bedside a few days ago. In a post, he expressed immense gratitude to all the medical professionals, including surgeons and those involved in her post-op care. Hough also thanked the countless fans and loved ones who sent their best wishes, love, and prayers to him and Erbert.
A part of his caption read, “This surgery marks a significant milestone in my wife’s recovery journey, and your support has played a crucial role in getting us here. We are filled with hope and optimism for the future…”
In a post a few days before, Hough updated fans on his wife’s prognosis. Alongside a video of the pair walking arm in arm in Washington, D.C., Hough elaborated on their “challenging journey” so far.
“Hayley is doing well. Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle,” the “DWTS” alum wrote with hope.
He explained that she required the second surgery to replace the part of the skull removed during her initial life-saving procedure, but the situation also presented a “profound reminder” of the fragility of life, and the power of support.
Hough added, “It has also shown us the incredible strength and resilience that lies within us and the power of having a supportive community around us.”
Although it didn’t turn into the holiday season they envisioned, Hough and Erbert remain incredibly grateful regardless, feeling a greater appreciation for life.
