If celebrity gossip and the lifestyles of the rich and famous are you’re thing, chances are you’ll have had a field day with the months of speculation regarding to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
They were initially one of the power couples of the entertainment industry back in the early 2000s, before falling out of love, canceling their engagement, and heading their separate ways.
Fast forward to 2021 and ‘Bennifer’ were back together, much to the delight of their many millions of fans worldwide. And yet while a fairytale ending to their saga seemed very much on the cards, fate, it appears, has other plans.
Earlier this week, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck after a maelstrom of speculation suggesting that the couple were at odds with one another. Interestingly, the date – August 20 – marked the two-year anniversary of the couple’s surprise Las Vegas wedding.
Needless to say, much has been said of the couples’ decision to divorce, while just about every celebrity news site and publication have scrambled to see just how Ben and JLo are doing.
For his part, Ben was seen looking anything but down in the dumps on the day his wife filed for divorce, having been snapped getting off a plane alongside ex-wife Jennifer Garner and the teenager they share, Fin.
As per reports, Affleck and Garner had flown into Los Angeles after dropping off their daughter, Violet, at college in Connecticut. Naturally all eyes were on Ben, and the actor is said to have beamed as he made his way down the stairs, a point fans were quick to comment on.
“He looks relieved😂 😂 go Ben!! 👏” wrote one person on Instagram.
“He’s so happy. I have never seen him smile like that. Whoa,” wrote another.
“Ahahahahahahahaha he’s celebrating,” said a third.
That Ben was pictured with his ex-wife on the very same day Lopez filed for divorce is enough to create headlines in and of itself (irrespective of the fact that this was almost certainly strictly a family outing undertaken out of duty to Violet).
In any case, there were people online who appeared overjoyed that Ben was spending time with Garner, and even those who encouraged the idea that the pair might now embark upon an unlikely romantic reunion of their own.
“He’s smiling again! He should go back to his family and stay there. Forever. ❤️🙌🙏🏼,” wrote a fan on Facebook.
Another admirer added: “He’s always happy around @jennifer.garner 😍.” “He was with her for years and has kids with her, not every divorce ends badly, I hope they get back together!”

One internet user even suggested that Affleck and Garner might already be growing closer than people think, theorizing: “Garner is the woman who has a boyfriend who looks good but it is only to cover up her relationship with Ben, that is why Ben’s relationships do not last 😮.”
Five days earlier, on August 15, Elektra star Garner was reportedly seen visiting her ex-husband on his 52nd birthday at the rental home where he is currently living in Brentwood, California.
It should go without saying that any and all rumors concerning Affleck and Garner being more than dedicated co-parents are just that: rumors. As such they should be taken lightly.
Jennifer Lopez, meanwhile, who has already canceled her planned tour of North America this year, is said to have made her divorce filing without a lawyer, suggesting that she wants to handle the process independently.
TMZ have also reported that the divorce documents show JLo and Ben did not have a prenuptial agreement.
